Description
Finally a pedal brace for Small Chassis Triumph including the Spitfire, GT6, Vitesse, and Herald. It reinforces the bulkhead area around the pedals to provide a firmer, more confident brake pedal. My GT6 had multiple stress cracks around the mounting holes of the clutch and brake pedal mounts. This discovery lead to designing a pedal brace to join the clutch, brake and throttle pedal mountings together into a solid pedal box.
The pedal brace is constructed of MIG welded 2mm mild steel with multiple gussets added for strength. Also included are all new hardware and 4 stainless steel reinforcing plates for underneath the master cylinder brackets.
Testing found that without the pedal brace installed the bulkhead flexed 0.030″ near the pedal mounting while applying a normal braking force. With the pedal brace installed the same area flexed 0.005″ with my maximum braking force applied.
The brace is designed for the MK3 Triumph GT6 and MK4/1500 Triumph Spitfire with a RHD cable operated throttle. Customers have confirmed its fitment in earlier cars with mechanical throttle linkages as well as LHD applications. This fitment requires the removal of the cable operated throttle pedal mount surface. I have included a dimensional drawing showing hole locations so fitment may be confirmed.
The pedal brace adds 2mm to the height and depth of the pedal locations so minor slotting of the mounting holes may be required; this is highly car dependent.
